The development of the
PolySteel Piping Systems grew out of the expertise of Duraduct to
manufacture steel spiral welded and lockseam piping systems and the market
need for a piping encapsulated the flow and use characteristics of high
density polyethylene (HDPE) for operating at high pressures associated
more with
a steel piping system.
With this in mind Duraduct engineers developed a pipe manufacturing
process that resulted in a product now marketed as the “PolySteel Piping
System”. Simply put
the PolySteel Pipe is produced by inserting a HDPE liner into an external
steel
(or aluminium) spiral welded or lockseam casing.
The process for the manufacturing of PolySteel fittings, which are
individually fabricated, is similar to that for pipe.
One of the major advantages for using spiral steel inserted with HDPE is
the
significant flexibility it provides in manufacturing a wide variety of
pipe diameters
and wall thickness with minimum if any additional tooling. This makes it
possible for engineers to design a piping system to meet output
characteristics required to do
the job and fit for purpose.
Most importantly a custom built PolySteel piping system is highly cost
effective
against other traditional form of piping.
