PolySteel pipe is nearly
always manufactured to a specific operating condition and design criteria
which results in a piping system fit for purpose.
The pressure rating of the pipeline is predetermined by a combination
of factors:
• Fluid being pumped through the pipe. Is it non corrosive, corrosive or
abrasive or both?
• The expected increases in bore diameter over time due to abrasion or
chemical attack.
• External environment in which the pipeline will operate where corrosion
allowance
of the outer casing may be required or special coatings and steel alloys
used.
• Volume of fluid to be pumped over a given time period.
The above (also refer check list in Specifications section) are not
exhaustive because each application will have its own outcome requirements
however they are typical of the pipeline operating conditions that need to
be considered by engineers.
A full analysis of pipeline operating conditions will determine a suitable
PolySteel
pipeline system to be manufactured to meet the pressure capacity
and operating requirements of the piping system.
As a result of the engineering assessment based on outcomes required the
following should be determined to meet the pipeline operating pressure. It
is this information
that is important for the pipe manufacturing purposes.
• Outer casing pipe diameter
• Outer casing wall thickness
• Outer casing material and finish (coated or not)
• HDPE lining wall thickness
• Internal bore
